JOINING IN DISCUSSIONS ON THE WEBBOARD

In order for you to make the most of your time on the webboard here are some tips.

1. Register   a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you. Follow the link and then you can join in the discussions on the webboard.
2. Remember that the name you register with will be the one displayed. If you select John for example there could be other Johns – everyone must have a unique name so that it is clear who is participating. But if you are under 16 years of age you must not use your full name (don't use your surname) on the web. You can always choose a nickname.
3. Once registered you can join any of the webboard discussions. The different discussions are known as threads; the replies from readers are called posts. Just click on the post you want to reply to and type in your response. This will automatically be sent to the webboard moderator (our Online Reader in Residence) for approval.

4. Don't use bad language or be rude. All users can be banned by the moderator, this prevents you from joining in future discussions on the site. Remember that you agreed to the Terms and Conditions when you registered.
5. Some of the threads are open to everyone and others have been set up for specific Reading Groups but you can still join in and add your own opinions to their discussion threads.

6. If you would like a discussion thread set up on the site then contact our Online Reader in Residence who will arrange this for you. When you contact her please include your starter post.

7. Web Board e-mail alert service
To be notified every time someone adds a new post to a discussion board click sign in and then go to 'Notify me each time a message is posted to the following discussion boards' near the end of My Account and tick all the discussion topics that interest you. Save your new settings and in future you will always be notified of new postings to those discussion boards.
