HUNTING DOWN THE UNIVERSE

From science fact to science fiction.

Hunting Down the UniverseThe public appetite for learning about the scientific world we live in and trying to make sense of its rapid advancement, has led to a vast increase in the publication of books for the general reader - as opposed to the student or academic. Hunting Down the Universe is a bibliography offering a selection of some of the best, liveliest and most informative writing on popular science coming out of the UK. However the bibliography does not confine itself to non-fiction. As the two cultures of science and literature move closer together, we have included many fiction titles, as well as poetry and drama, which link in and complement the other works.

With an introduction by Margaret Drabble, the bibliography is divided into 11 sections

  • What is this thing called science?
  • Hunting down the universe
  • Mapping the mind
  • Dear Mr Darwin
  • A passion for plants
  • The invention of clouds
  • The pleasure of counting
  • The quantum universe
  • Pills, potions and poisons
  • A brief history of the future

Each title gives full bibliographic details and a brief synopsis of the content.
