READING GROUPS
enCompassCulture has information about over 10,000 books published in the UK and Commonwealth. This site will help you to choose the book you want to read next. It can also: select books that can be used in a reading group or classroom; complement English Language Teaching; provide ideas for libraries and information spaces; help you encourage children, teenagers and adults to read. And what better way is there for discussion and debate and an in-depth engagement with every country's culture than by creating a Reading Group?
This guide has been written with the overseas offices of the British Council in mind but much of it is applicable to any Reading Group. Please follow the links below for: What are Reading Groups?; Reading Group Toolkit; Reading Group Ideas for Adults, Teenagers and Children; Where Can I Join a Reading Group; Reading Group Twins; and a Calendar of Reading Events. You can also follow the more comprehensive links on the left, which also include: reading Kits; Boklists; Creative Reading Projects in the UK; specific reading projects such as Africa@21 Reading Groups, Summer Reading Challenge, Reading between the Lines, Teaching Management through Literature, Reading the City amongst others; Practical Tips for Chat/Webboard Use; and links to Creative Reading Websites.
