Newsletter: January 2006

Best New Year wishes to all of you, and thanks to everyone who's used EnCompass over the last year, or contributed in various ways to making the site bigger and better.

This includes the many readers who've emailed in their book reviews - which have ranged from simple one-liners praising or dismissing an author's hard work in four words, to thoughtful, in-depth critiques which put the blurbs to shame. I'd also like to thank everyone who's sent in their thoughts to our discussion boards, or taken part in one of our live on-line chats. These are genuinely fascinating events which have been among my highlights of the year - technology put to a really good purpose, enabling readers in different parts of the world to discuss the similarities and differences in their perceptions of the same book.

There are now more titles than ever on the EnCompass database, so whenever you get one of those 'what shall I read next?' moments, just try clicking on some of the compass points to come up with some suggestions to take you in a new (or a familiar) direction. And please do recommend the site to friends, colleagues, or anyone who asks you if you've read anything good recently which they might like. If you visit the site regularly, why not sign up and join our mailing list, to receive regular updates on what's new, and information about forthcoming quizzes and author interviews.

On the subject of interviews, I've a few writers in mind to try and line up to answer your questions in 2006, but if there's anyone in particular you'd like to see under the spotlight, please let me know. Just go to the 'Author Interviews' discussion thread and mail in your suggestions. I'll try my best!

So, from everyone at EnCompass, best wishes for 2006 and happy reading.

Susan
